My Favorite Book

Sometime ago we wrote of our favorite books.
Please give me the latitude of having a long memory and short recall.
For the life of me, I cannot recall the name of the book I read as a
little girl.
girls' schools I attended. The younger the person, the easier it is to
learn many languages. I'd switch from one language to another at the
blink of an eye as I'd chat with my young pals in their native tougue.
The book was a children's book from España or Spain. I cannot remember
if I read it in Spanish or English. If my Mom had not been so great at
giving things away, I'd have the book stashed someplace now. Geminis
are paper-rats. If it is paper, we keep it. However, U. S. currency does
not work that well for us.
The book was about a cardinal bird and its family. For the family to settle
on one's property, great things would happen in the owner's life as long as
the birds lived there. The resident cardinal is a harbinger of good luck.
Earlier, this year, living in the family forest, I opened the front door on a
beautiful day and saw a cardinal in the driveway. I went onto the porch
and the closing of the screen door did not disturb the cardinal from
whatever he was doing in the driveway. Soon, mama cardinal joined him.
The females are a dull brown color. I watched them claim a limb in a pine
tree near the driveway. They were in and out of the pine tree for better
than two weeks.
A dear Friend dropped by for a visit. He is fluent in Spanish and I told him of the children's book. He'd never heard of it.
I was busy with living and going or coming into the driveway, I'd see one or
both of the cardinals.
Never did I know that my Angels were preparing me to move to a new residence.
My buying agent who had worked with me over twenty years ago in real estate,
called and told me she had a house for me to look at and I had forty minutes
to get there. Her memory is not that good, she checked her old date books for the year that we had met. I met her at the house.
She was right. The paperwork was done and like smooth ice cream everything
was done. It did not hurt to have a great Prayer Partner who is a mortgage officer
and months before we talked about what I could afford. We were just talking and
the house came under what I could afford.
After I'd signed the contract for the house the cardinal family disappeared.
Only once have I seen a cardinal in the back yard of the new house.
Yes, still with childish wonder, I do believe.
